Some animals have always fascinated men and aroused their interest for the treasures they inherently possess. They are the most expensive and rarest animals on the planet, true jewels of nature. What makes these species so special and different from other animals is what we intend to discover.

"Animal Treasure" is a modern investigative series on the past, present and future of these endangered animals which are the pride of the luxury industry. Follow us into the exclusive world of wealth and glamour, and discover the inside story of how animals are transformed into gold by renowned designers and manufacturers such as Christian Dior, Chanel, Petrossian, Loro Piana, Cartier, and Hermès.

We will visit the factories, the private collections, and the luxury boutiques of these world famous brands to understand how best to ensure the protection of such animals, when international businesses have so much at stake in their exploitation as well as in their survival.

The gong culture was transmitted to us from our ancestors. I teach young people to play, to preserve the tradition.

In the mountains of the southeast Vietnam, Ma Bio, a Chu Ru woman, is one the few people who plays the gong, an ancestral drum considered an Oral Masterpiece of Human Heritage by Unesco. She teaches the gong to the young generation of her village.

Ma Bio is worried because her set of gongs are old and pierced, and she knows she has to travel far to get new ones. Accompanied by her niece MaLuhin, she leaves on 600 km journey across the mountains and countryside to meet the last gong makers of Vietnam, possessors of a unique know-how.

Their first stop is in Danang, near the coast, where the two women watch the confection of a gong with great emotion. From cast iron to forge, each gesture has to be very precise and guided by the sound.

Their journey will then take them to Pearl Mountain, where Mr. Kong will teach them the difficult art of tuning the instrument. They will end their trip in the Bahnar region where they will participate in a celebration and dance to the magical sound and rhythm of the gongs.

「鑼」的文化，由祖先傳給我們開始，代代傳承。Ma Bio是一位來自越南東南部的山區，少數懂得演奏鑼的村民，被聯合國教科文組織列入人類遺產。Ma Bio因她的舊鑼刺穿，所以她離開家鄉，攀山越嶺，走到了六百公里以外的越南，為了見到製造鑼的師傅，領悟「鑼」的藝術，展現著由鑼聲引導著的姿態和節奏。

In the four centuries of its tumultuous existence, Kabuki has become one of the leading symbols of Japanese culture.

The Kabuki in the countryside pays tribute to the spirits of nature; it is gradually dying out, but the last actors cling to the tradition with an endearing energy. Hayato is a member of one of these amateur Kabuki theatres. For the first time he brings his two sons to Tokyo to show them a Grand Kabuki performance.

Heir to a dynasty of famous actors, seventeen-year-old Kazutaro Nakamura is making his debut performance on the stage of the prestigious Kabuki-Za in Tokyo.

To prepare, he depends on advice from his father, Kanjaku, and his grandfather, Tojuro—who pass on their acting style from generation to generation.

I decided to organize this Mukanda so that my children can learn about their culture, so they know more than what schoolbooks can teach them.

In the village of Kashushu, in western Zambia, Patrick has five sons approaching manhood. Perpetuating the traditions of the Luvale culture is expensive, and Patrick has to sell two of his best animals to pay for his sons’ initiation.

In the springtime, the Makishi demons, the spirits of the ancestors, return to earth during the initiation. Wearing extraordinary masks, their bodies covered in a knitted costume, they kidnap the young village boys for four months.

During the final festival that brings all the villagers together, the Makishi appear in full regalia. Their dances enchant the crowd, and a new generation of men appears in the village.

A long time ago, on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, a queen gave birth to twins. One of them was a varanus. The infant died at birth, but the varanus survived.

A week later, he left and went far away from man.

Since that time, the Bugis know that some varanus’ have <an animal’s body but a human spirit... >

During the rainy season, Alhim lives with his family in a floating house, in the middle of Lake Tempe. His daughter is 4 years old. She is a varanus sent by Allah, and Alhim has to raise and to cherish her.

But one day, his son Suardi breaks into tears: his twin sister has disappeared...

To get her back, Alhim must go on a long journey to the kingdom of Goa, where a descendant of the former monarch lives. He is 34 years old. He has great powers, and he too is a varanus.

Only he can bring Alhim’s daughter back and console Suardi...

We are propelled into an investigation of the life and treason of agent Farewell. We then examine Vetrov as we would a character in a novel – his complex motives, his unpredictable behaviors. He was a double agent, viewed himself not as a criminal but as a hero of world……Vetrov was removed from his camp in Siberia and brought back to Moscow to be tried for treason and sentenced to death and executed in January 1985.
